Four Years In the Making or More Like 15
4 years ago Brad Smith and I embarked upon a journey to transform Simplecast and differentiate our ourselves from the status quo of the competition, to something much greater. The world of podcasting looked very different back then, although most of the core aspects of podcasting continue to remain unchanged. While Simplecast was a new venture for Brad and I, we’ve known each other for close to 15 years. During the Internet Stone Age we worked together for 7 years building PureVolume and then Virb, a DIY website builder for creatives (acquired by GoDaddy in 2013).
Our ethos, to create simple, powerful, and innovative tools for empowering creators, has always been at the heart of our work. Our aim at Simplecast has been no different–to build the best tools for publishing and insights so podcast creators can thrive–whether that means scaling their audience, generating revenue, reaching a specific niche, or any other goal they set their sights on when they launched their show. While Brad, myself and the amazing Simplecast Team have set the stage for the future of podcasting, we have so much more that we want to do. To unlock the future of Simplecast, as of June 16, 2020 (which just so happens to coincide with my wedding anniversary 🥂), Simplecast has joined the SiriusXM–Pandora family 🥳
Joining SiriusXM–Pandora will help us execute on our vision in ways that we could never have done on our own. Teaming up with AdsWizz and Pandora, will allow us to bring new, unique distribution opportunities, exciting revenue-generating tools from AdsWizz, and cutting-edge analytics for your shows. I feel like a kid in a candy shop, so many possibilities, all equally amazing.
Just like we’ve done in the past, Brad and I, together with the stellar Simplecast Team, are going to continue doing what we do best, build the best tools to help creators to thrive.
