Kings Highway Barrens
A loop trail allows visitors to enjoy both native pitch pine- oak forests and highly invasive black locust forests as well as the native prairies found in this region. Well east of the red trail are several small but high quality pine barrens vernal ponds, a rare habitat type in New York state and beyond. The historic Kings Highway that linked Albany and Schenectady is located adjacent to this part of the preserve.
Parking is available for a few cars in the pull off to the north of Kings Road.
